The Day After....

It's the day after Power Camp...how do you feel? Is your head still spinning from the experience, are you satisfied with your performance, did you identify your strengths...and your weaknesses? This is a once in a life time experience-something that only a few people accomplish-CONGRATULATIONS!

Why?

"It is there for the simple reason that this is
your path. If we ignore our path we become unhappy, empty and disenchanted.
If we follow our path, then our potential is infinite as no-one truly
knows their boundaries until they've gone to the edges of their own
minds and capabilities."

Stay the path and find the treasures along the way!

Graduation and Convocation are here at last!

Sorry about that last message, I didn't mean to send it yet. Anyway, the title says it all. Tomorrow is the graduation for the younger belt levels, and convocation is right after that for the advanced ranks that took their test. I can't wait until the silver dragons preform and show off our skills, and how good Mrs. Wilmott is on putting demos together. It's so amazing. I've been on the demo team ever since I started about four years ago. I love doing performances, especially at the USA Masters Academy. It will be so fun. I won't be able to see the convocation though :( I wish I wish I was able to. Convocations are so much fun (even the standing). But it's all worth it to get your new ranks. I will regret not coming but I will next time, mainly because I am testing though LOL. Well I can't wait to see everyone's new belt tied around their waists on Monday. Good Luck to all!!!!

Congrats to all testers

First off, i would like to say congratulations to Olivia, Stephen, and Mrs. Wilmott for doing such a great job at the test last Saturday. We all had confidence in you guys. While watching Mrs. Wilmott do her part of the test with Mr. Tuttle it looked like she was in a lot of pain when he knocked her to the ground with the staff. I can relate to that though. I know you are feeling better because you can push through anything. We all can if we set our minds to it. I look forward to seeing you guys receive your new ranks on the first!!! Hope everyone has a nice spring break.

Ten days until the test!

The test is in ten days and although I am nervous, I know I can do it. I have been training hard and keeping a healthy diet, so I feel very prepared. Thank you, Mrs. Wilmott, for helping me and teaching me every step of the way.

Next Step Power Camp

The mock test is over and power camp is coming up on Saturday. Thank you Brooke and Cameron for your encouraging words. Thank you, Brooke, for comparing power camp to a tournament. That is something I can relate to, and I will enjoy it! Thank you to everyone for your help and assistance during open classes. And most of all thank you Mrs. Wilmott. You are a terrific instructor!!!!!!!!

Good Luck to all testers

I'm giving my warmest reguards to everyone who is testing this spring. I know what it's like to go up to power camp for the first time. When it was my first time going to this all day test I didn't know what to expect. As the day progressed I learned that it was a fun and exciting time. Don't be worried, just remember to have fun and think of it as a competition or the Masters Cup. Trust me, you'll forget that it's even a physical test. But still do your very best! I know that you can. I've seen you all in class and you deserve the rank that you are and the new rank that you'll receive. I have faith in all of you. Even though I won't be testing this time around, I am with you guys all the way and I'm sure everyone else is too. We should all be thankful for Mrs. Wilmott. She's the one who taught us all we know. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. She has stuck with everyone through thick and thin and knows how to cheer someone up when they're not themselves. I don't know where I'd be without her, and the support from all my friends and family. So once again, GOOD LUCK TO ALL TESTERS!!!!!!!

Mock test

The mock test is Saturday and I am ready for it, but I am still nervous. I want to thank everyone for all the support you have given me. I would also like to give a big round of applause to Olivia, who also will be taking the mock test. She has worked very hard and I am sure she will do great.

Training properly

Being sick is not fun! When I am sick, I just want to keep going, but that is not always the best thing to do. It could hurt you worst and you would not really be learning or improving. Sometimes it is better to take a rest and allow yourself to get better. Then when you are better, your body and mind will be ready to get back to training.

Never Give Up!

The journey to black belt is very hard, but it is important that you do not give up. One of things you have to do is run 1 1/2 miles in 13 minutes. This part of the test comes during Power Camp. I have been running six times a week for a long time, but getting my time has been my biggest challenge. I have come close, but I haven't been able to make it. This morning I tried once again, and I did it! My time was 12:50! But I am not going to stop there. My goal is to get it in 12:00.

We all have challenges. I have lots of things that I need to correct or improve on, some of which I have been working on for a very long time! But we need to keep working on it and never give up! Thank you, Mrs. Wilmott, for helping me to realize that I should never give up.

Strengthen the Will

This week's "thought" reminds me that I have come a long way since I started on this crazy martial arts journey. It is all too easy to quit when the going gets tough...and it is those that endure that achieve their goals. Many thanks to Herb Nye and Tom Callos for pushing me to succeed and never accepting "no" for an answer!

Working Hard!!!!!

Special Training started up again on Saturday. It was great! We worked hard, but we need to and it was really good for us. It was good to see some new faces. The test is coming up really fast in April. Mr. Trank told us that Power Camp is March 13th. That is only about 2 months away! So we need to be working really hard!
